Establishment in 1963 until 1975 [edit]

The academy was officially founded by the Georgia Board of Regents approved the establishment of a junior higher tentatively to be named Cobb Canton Junior College. The Bailey Performance Eye opened its doors in October, 2007. Dormitory facilities were provided at Southern Tech's get-go location in Chamblee, Georgia. Kennesaw Land Academy'southward able-bodied teams are called the Owls. The school colors are blackness and gilt.^[61]

The Owls participate in Partitioning I of the NCAA and the ASUN Conference. Athletics began in the 1981-82 academic yr, with KSU joining both the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the Georgia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GIAC). James "Spec" Landrum was named the school's first Athletic Director, afterward football coaching stints at both Georgia and Georgia Tech. The Kennesaw Country Athletics Association unveiled their new Scrappy mascot on October 13, 2012, during their basketball flavor preview called Flying Nighttime.
